Alumni

Mission
To maintain a volunteer Alumni Association to mobilize, inform and coordinate the efforts of those committed to celebrating the history and enhancing the educational environment for the students and staff of Brantford Collegiate Institute & Vocational School on Brant Avenue.

1.0 Goals and Objectives
1.1    To maintain a sustainable, continuing and inclusive Alumni Association
1.2    To communicate with the students, staff, Parents’ Council, BCI&VS Alumni Foundation, Board of Education and the community
1.3    To carry out the mission of the Association through activities such as, but not limited to, a newsletter, web site, information meetings, the sponsorship of events/gatherings, reunions, and/or carrying out of projects for the good of the school
1.4    To support the BCI&VSAlumni Foundation and the school in their efforts to raise funds for 1) scholarships; 2) trophies, prizes and awards to inspire academic, athletic, artistic, creative and community service excellence; 3) special projects
1.5    To encourage donations of time, talents and materials
1.6    To organize and maintain an active registry of BCI&VS graduates, attendees, staff, benefactors and supporters
1.7    To augment the school’s archives by encouraging the donation of materials
1.8    To commemorate significant achievements of BCI&VS students and staff

2.0 Membership
2.1    Those who graduated and those who pursued part of their education at BCI&VS
2.2    Teachers and staff, both former and current
2.3    Benefactors and supporters

3.0 Steering Committee
3.1    Will coordinate the activities of the Alumni Association
3.2    Will meet a minimum of six times per year
3.3    Will require the attendance of 7 members to constitute a quorum
3.4    Members must attend a minimum of 60% of scheduled meetings
3.4    Will consist of 12 members, each of which will fill a term consisting of four years.  Each year, three members will retire and three new members appointed to replace them.
3.5    Members may rejoin the Steering Committee after an absence of two years
3.6    Will appoint an Executive Committee consisting of Past Chair, Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer and Secretary
3.7    Will require Standing Committees to be: Newsletter, Membership, Public Relations, Fund Raising and Distinguished Alumni
3.8    Will strike Ad hoc committees as required
3.9    Will review the Terms of Reference on an annual basis
