Rebuilding BCI on Brant Avenue

December 2007: Dave Levac, MPP Brant, announced that the Grand Erie District School Board had been granted $23.8 million in “prohibitive to repair” funding to rebuild BCI & VS on Brant Avenue.

June 2008: Demolition of the interior of the 1910 building, the library and auditorium begins.

September 2008: Demolition continues, rebuilding starts.  Students attend classes in the 1963 wing of the school and at nearby Victoria School, in 2 separate shifts.

August 2009: Rebuilding funds have been increased to $25.8 million to cover inflation costs.

August 2010: Rebuild of the 1910 building is complete, as is the Atrium connecting the two buildings.  This Atrium houses the new cafeteria and auditorium. 

September 2010: The 1910 building re-opens to students and classes.  Renovation of the 1963 building begins.  Classes are still split between the original campus, in the 1910 building, and Victoria school, though a regular school timetable resumes.

February 2011: Renovation of the 1963 building was to be complete, however, this schedule has been modified and the deadline for completion is now June 2011.
