 B. Developed, Administers and Funds the B.C.I. & V.S. Distinguished Alumni Program

(a) History: This program was initiated in 2000 by Gay Muir, John Starkey, Dick Verity and Mary Welsh.  It was later expanded to include Ken Strachen (who acted as Chair until his death, in 2005), Ruth Lefler, Bruce Hill and Neil McKinnell joined the Committee.

(b) Purpose: To recognize former students or staff who have achieved outstanding accomplishments Internationally, Nationally, Provincially and/or Locally in one or more of 14 different disciplines.

(c) Summary of Activity to Date: The focus to date has been on people who have distinguished themselves in the International and National categories.  Recognition Ceremonies have been held in 2001, 2004 and 2006.  To date 31 former students have been honoured in the International Category and 7 in the National Level.

The next recognition ceremony will be held as part of the 100th Reunion/Anniversary festivities at 10:00am, Saturday, August 6, 2011 in the new multi-purpose room.

The Foundation will continue to support and fund the Recognition Program as part of its mandate to celebrate the history and accomplishments of Brantford’s first Collegiate.

DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI INDUCTION CEREMONY AT THE 100TH CELEBRATION

August 6, 2011

9:15 am: A Meet and Greet for New Honourees and their guests will take place in BCI Student Services

10:00 am: Induction Ceremony for new Honourees will take place in BCI Auditorium

11:30 am: Mix and Mingle for new Honourees and their guests will take place in BCI Auditorium

12:30 pm: Luncheon for all Honourees and their invited guests will take place in the Upper Atrium
