Art/Architecture:
- Visual artists whose work has been on display at a gallery of national distinction or shown at a prestigious national art festival
- Architect whose work is recognized at the national level
Business:
- President, owner, CEO, CAO of an national corporation whose status or product is of significance as rated by the Chamber of Commerce
Dance:
- Choreographer or dancer whose performance is recognized nationally in any field of dance
- Winner of a major national competition
Education:
- Significant contributions at the national level
- Appointment to national boards
- National recognition through awards or published books
Entertainment, Theatre, Cinema:
- One who has achieved a national award in the field of entertainment proven by participation (acting, directing or producing) in a major production across Canada
Judiciary:
- Chief Justice of Canada or a Federal Superior Court Judge
Labour:
- President of a certified Union or Federation, or an individual member of a certified trade Union or Federation who has been recognized by his/her labour Union or Federation across Canada
Literature/Journalism/Media:
- Writer of major significant body of work, e.g. poems, novels, short stories, published and successfully sold across Canada
- Major contributor to national magazines and/or newspapers or other media, who has been recognized by his/her national organization
- Winner of a national award in literature, journalism or media
Medicine:
- One who is recognized nationally for outstanding contributions in the field of medicine
Military:
- Has obtained the rank of Major General
- Winner of an nationally significant decoration or special recognition
- Major General plus other contributions
- Recipient of Military Decoration 1,2 or 3

Music:
- to include performers, composers, producers and impresarios
- Recordings selling consistently nationally
- Winner of prestigious national competition or music-related award
Public Life:
- Politics – i.e. Prime Minister or Governor-General, Premier, Federal Cabinet Minister
- Granted prestigious title or award i.e. recipient of the Order of Canada
Religion/Humanities:
- National leader of a recognized religious order
Science/Technology:
- Inventor or discoverer whose work has been recognized by his/her national organization
Sports:
- An individual or team member who has won a significant national event or award
